- Shadow - Second Womb
Second Womb is a collaboration between DookieBrownFlow (Emcee) and Father Earth (Producer). After a chance meeting in 2013 the two linked up to work. From the very start it was apparent that something truly great was incubating. Second Womb has been described as creating their own era of Hip-Hop. Their music spans various sub-genres of Hip-Hop as well as pulling inspiration from the entire musical spectrum. They promote a positive message of peace and awareness of the universe. January, 2015 marked the start of the “Live from the Cave” EP series, in which the Duo released an EP every month for 12 months straight.
What is your background? tell us where you grew up and some information about your upbringing/experiences as a youth:
Both of us are born and raised in South Jersey 30 mins from both Atlantic City and Philadelphia. Growing up, there wasn’t much to do in the area other than Sports, Music or getting into some kind of trouble. Both of us come from large supportive families that we are very close with.
At what moment did you know that music was part of your life and what feelings did you have towards making an active impact with your music?
We both found music to be an expressive, creative escape at a very young age. Although we wouldn’t meet for many years after that, we were both beginning to experiment with crude songwriting and production techniques early on. Between musical family members and the influence of society and the popular culture of the time, our inspirations were starting to form our perceptions of Music and Art as we matured.
What artists inspired/influences you and if you could collaborate with any artist (alive or passed) who would it be and why?
Dookie: Some of my earliest influences are artists like Joe Budden, Early Lil Wayne, G Unit, and My Cousins. If I could collaborate with any artist it would be Erykah Badu but I would also love to have a chance to go bar for bar with MF Doom.
Earth: My early musical influences are artists like Eminem, Biggie, and a lot of Punk Rock. Later in my life artists like Madlib, MF Doom, J Dilla, Geoff Barrow, DJ Premier and The Alchemist got me interested in Hip-Hop production and really made me want to take my music to another level. If I could collaborate with any artist it would have to be David Axelrod or Ka from Brownsville.
What do you think about the current state of hip hop/mainstream music?
To be honest, we don’t really listen to a lot of mainstream stuff that’s coming out today. But we believe that everything has its place and all trends will pass.
Currently, what projects do you have in the works that you are most excited about?
We are going to be releasing a compilation of our 12 installment EP series, “Live From The Cave”, that was released every month of 2015. We also have a lot of visual stuff in the works as well and we are working hard on new material for a new album coming sometime in the future.

What do you bring to the game that is unique and different?
We pull inspiration from all types of music and we are not afraid to take risks. We are always actively trying to expand the idea of “What is Hip-Hop?” and we are always working to master our craft and perfect our artistry.
To the aspiring artist who is considering a career as a musician what lessons or advice would you give them to inspire them or to uplift them in the journey?
