Today we bring to you a artist that you will surely not forget. He is a young and talented addition to the NHH Family – He is from the U.K. and has a international sound that resonates with audiences from around the world. We had the pleasure of taking some time to speak with him and ask him about his projects and career endeavors. Bellow you can check out the exclusive interview as well as listening to his new hit song “What’s your status?”
What is your background? tell us where you grew up and some information about your upbringing/experiences as a youth:
I am a British Indian born in Preston which is in the north west of England (U.K ) I have been very fortunate to be given a great upbringing as a child with traditional family values and support all the way. I was lucky enough to travel as a child and experience a nice upbringing from a young age and never had to struggle.
At what moment did you know that music was part of your life and what feelings did you have towards making an active impact with your music?
My musical background and influence started at a very early stage in my life, as my Father was a singer in a local band during my childhood he would play at weddings and gigs quite often. My idol as a child and like many children raised in the 1980’s was MJ the king of POP. By the age of 7 my dad got me dressed up in the BAD outfit and would invite me on stage during his shows and I would come out and do little surprise performances and bring a twist to the show. I would get the whole crowd going and with it being a full Indian crowd it was something special and unique and gave me the performing buzz and a kick start to carry this on and progress.
What artists inspired/influences you and if you could collaborate with any artist (alive or passed) who would it be and why?
MJ, Biggie Smalls, 2PAC , JAY – Z and from the UK SO SOLID Crew. If I could collaborate with anyone it would have to be THE Notorious B.I.G (Biggie Smalls) as he was a big influence growing up to his music and unique rap and catchy lyrics and flow. His music still lives on today and nobody has come close to his style so that would be my reason and why.
What do you think about the current state of hip hop/mainstream music?
I think it is still very strong and current at the moment and lots of new Artists and music is coming out from the U.S and it’s top of the charts still today!
Currently, what projects do you have in the works that you are most excited about?
My current Debut Single is now out online and will be available for download JULY 2016 Titled What’s Your Status and has been getting national play with the BBC in the UK and has reached over 100k plays online in the first 3 weeks. I am so excited about this movement and this is one of reasons I am being featured on NHH and it can only get stronger from this point. Also I have some freestyle’s which i have done along with another whole bunch of singles I am working on and have a commercial radio hit in the bag coming soon.
What are your short-term career goals within the next 6-10 months?
My first goal now is get my name and brand out to more people and the world and increase my following and have people discover my music.
What are your long-term career goals within the next 2-5 years?
Id like to have a number one record and be able to tour the world with my music and follow my passion, which is to create music, that gives you the feel good factor.
If you had one song out of the catalog you have created to show a person what song would it be and why?
What’s your Status??
Because it’s my take on how we live in this day and age by social media and relates to the way we live our lives and lets face it we all have a different status every minute and every hour so it’s a great concept and platform to start with.
To the person who had never heard of you what is it about your music and story that you would tell them to entice them to be a supporter?
I am a very positive artist and like to have fun and also very creative with my music. You will get to experience something different from a song and live show and definately not a one hit wonder.
If your music could be described in five words what would those five words be?
FUN
CATCHY
ENERGY
HAPPY
UNIQUE
What do you bring to the game that is unique and different?
I am not just a rapper but also a musician and used to be in a Jazz Band as the lead drummer and can also play the Indian drums like the Tabla and Dhol . I have a natural rhythm for music. I can also dance and perform and know how to rock a crowd!!!
To the aspiring artist who is considering a career as a musician what lessons or advice would you give them to inspire them or to uplift them in the journey?
If you believe in yourself and have a gift to do something special then you must stay on top of it and make things happen and get feedback from people not just friends but also industry people and anyone who would rate or hate you. This will help you to gain different views and improve on where you need to in order to make you a stronger artist.
