What is your background? tell us where you grew up and some information about your upbringing/experiences as a youth:
I was born and raised in Windsor Ontario just south of Detroit. 100% Canadian bred. I was raised by my mother and she did a damn good job considering she did it on her own at a young age without any help. She taught me everything I know, from work ethic to cooking, all the way to how to treat a women properly and be a gentlemen. She also loves music as well. Ever since I can remember there was always music playing through the house and the genre never mattered. I grew up on a mix of different types of music.
At what moment did you know that music was part of your life and what feelings did you have towards making an active impact with your music?
I knew music was going to play a big role in my life when I got injured from my first love. I played football in high school and had big dreams to go and play D1 football. That dream came to an end when I suffered a serious injury. While I was healing the injury I decided to pick up a new hobby and that was with music. I decided to take up a guitar class in school and that’s where I fell in love with music. This class is where I learned that there was more to music than just sound. It can make you feel, you can make others feel. Its an art that is created from thin air. You can bring something to life that was never there before and make others feel with it. After high school I moved into my first house with my homie Mason, who had already fell in love with music. He had the equipment ready and we started cooking as a team. I guess you can say everything happens for a reason.
What artists inspired/influences you and if you could collaborate with any artist (alive or passed) who would it be and why?
In all honesty, I only jammed a couple artists in the game. Most of my inspiration came from my brothers around me who all dreamed of doing the same thing as me, which was to make our own music free of influence from the outside. We get done our grind or hustle hit the crib, decide on a beat and just ride the wave. Me, Dom, Mason, Syther and Huss spend hours just jamming to beats pitching in ideas from every angle, piecing all the ideas together like a puzzle. It never really mattered if we made it big, it’s just what we do to clear our minds and chill out after work. It’s just what we do bottom line. But if I were to have to choose an artist or group to collab with, it would have to be Currrensy or Wiz. The reason why is because we share similar lifestyles. I mean they got more money and a more extravagant lifestyle but if my money was like theirs it would most likely be very similar. Low riders, kush and not giving a damn about anyone’s opinion. Just living life how I feel, being an open spirit.
What do you think about the current state of hip hop/mainstream music?
I think the current state of hip hop and mainstream is irrelevant to me. I don’t really pay attention to it. I just get in the studio with my homies and we do our own thing. I got enough music to just jam myself and my team at this point. I rarely even listen to other music anymore. What’s the point when you love yourself so much??
Currently, what projects do you have in the works that you are most excited about?
I don’t have any specific projects, but I live in the studio. I got songs on top of songs and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I got a mind full of ideas and a lifetime to get them out so I’m just going to keep recording all this art until I decide to put them all together. Like I said earlier I do this just because….making music is my life, if I’m not out getting money I’m in the studio working. Even if I’m by myself, I’m always putting my ideas down on paper and saving it for later. Time doesn’t go to waste. Every song is a project and I finish projects all day.
What are your short term career goals within the next 6-10 months?
My short term goals in the next 6-10 months are pretty simple, to keep creating more music and mastering my craft, hopefully rack up some fans along the way. I don’t really push my music like I should be, because I just hope people catch on by themselves. If the right couple people catch on it can start a snowball effect. So my short term goals are to just keep getting better and better at my craft, everything else will hopefully just fall into place.
What are your long term career goals within the next 2-5 years?
My long term goals are to have a solid loyal group fans. I could careless if I ever become the greatest of all time. My main mission is to put art on this earth that can make people feel good and maybe earn some paper along the away. For me it’s not about being the best. It’s about connecting with good spirited, like minded people and on a very small scale I have already started this. I’ve met a solid group of people who are just like me just from this music and that’s the beauty of it. I can only hope I can connect to more people outside of my small city and reach out around the world.
If you had one song out of the catalogue you have created to show a person what song would it be and why?
I haven’t even came close to dropping some of my best work, and I’m still getting better. I only started making music last year and the best has yet to come. All I can say for future work is stay tuned if you’re interested because I’m all about showing progression and not rushing anything. This is just the beginning of a very long journey so stay tuned! To the person who had never heard of you what is it about your music and story that you would tell them to entice them to be a supporter?
I would say check out my music because I don’t really care about the politics, money or fame. I do this because I love to do it. It is my past time. I don’t go out clubbing, I don’t waste time drinking or watching tv shows. I just simply love putting on a beat and getting lost in it and my team thinks the exact same way as me so there really isn’t anything stopping us. Every time a track is produced it gets a little better and I try to get in the studio once a day. So if you really think about it, the potential is unlimited. As a supporter can you ask for anything more?
If your music could be described in five words what would those five words be?
Real, Homecooked, Different, Rare, GOLD
What do you bring to the game that is unique and different?
Everything about me is original, from the way I dress all the way to my sound. Literally everything I bring to the game is fresh and new.
To the aspiring artist who is considering a career as a musician what lessons or advice would you give them to inspire them or to uplift them in the journey?
Figure out what your main goals are, find like minded people to help you obtain those goals. Build trust with your team because it’s a cold world out there and now days your team and who has your back is very important. Then start knockin those goals out, create a check list and just do it!
