I am Troy Maddox, a Music Producer from Vineland, New Jersey. My passion for music and the gifts provided to me, fuels the sound that you hear or will hear. Throughout my life, I have heard music from all spectrums. The styles of music that captivated me while growing up were Rap/Hip Hop, Neo Soul, and Jazz. I would create beats with my mouth and have great ideas for composing my own music. Years later, a lane was created to produce music, while having a sound different than others. My music has the blend of all of the sounds that were previously mentioned, with a touch of my own style. I am looking forward to collaborating and matching visions with artists. I will continue to strive for greatness and to create a new sound, adding to, and impacting the future of music!!!

What is your background? tell us where you grew up and some information about your upbringing/experiences as a youth:

I grew up in Millville, New Jersey.  Where I grew up, all of us kids were focused on making it as a professional athlete.  I played midget league football, but basketball was my love. I was invited to play in a tournament in Switzerland when I was 15 years old, along with my cousin/brother.  My goal was to make it to the NBA.  I played basketball everyday and in the summer time, I played three times per day, everyday.  I came from a strict household.  My mom and dad raised me and taught me about family life and being a family man.

At what moment did you know that music was part of your life and what feelings did you have towards making an active impact with your music?

I used to sing a lot around the house when I was younger.  My dad caught me singing one time and in old school fashion, said, “boy you can blow”.  Once he told me that, it gave me the confidence I needed to keep singing.  I use to sing to my older brother’s girlfriends and they loved my singing. I knew at that time, that I had the ability to do something with music.  Growing up, I always thought that I would pursue being an R&B artist one day.

What artists inspired/influences you and if you could collaborate with any artist (alive or passed) who would it be and why?

Artists that have inspired and influenced me to be a Producer and/or overall are Pharrell, Kanye, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, J.Cole, Biggie, 2Pac, Busta Rhymes, Tribe Called Quest, Diddy, Eminem, Nas, Lauren Hill, Common, Dwele, D’angelo, Musiq Soulchild, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Usher, Eric Roberson, India Irie, Jhene Aiko, Mali Music, Andy Mineo, Anderson .Paak, Rapsody, and DookieBrownFlow.  Those are the all of the artists that shape my inspiration to make music. If I could collab with anyone dead or alive it would be Kendrick Lamar. I feel that he has the spirit of Marvin Gaye’s style of soul with a genius mind to paint vivid pictures through his words. His word-play and punch-lines are crazy.  Kendrick can attack a beat to get you hyped, mellow it out to get you to vibe out, or stimulate your mind to make you “think”. My goal is to work with him. I will one day.

What do you think about the current state of hip hop/mainstream music?

I think the current state of hip-hop is the Wild West.  Meaning, I believe that there is a mixture of rappers spitting cold bars, and rappers that make music that will bump in the club ONLY. I think a lot of today’s mainstream music is more catered to the younger generation. I don’t feel that a lot of mainstream music has substance nowadays. However, there are “several artists” that bring substance to the game and are still on the airwaves, which is needed.  I feel that lyrics need to stimulate our mind and make us think, telling life experiences of the artists and/or people they know.

Currently, what projects do you have in the works that you are most excited about?

I don’t have any for sure projects in the works, but am currently waiting on song placements with a hand full of A list artists. My hope is that I get my songs placed, than I’ll be involved in a lot of MAJOR projects.

What are your short term career goals within the next 6-10 months?

My short-term goals are to have multiple placements and album credits, with heavy radio play, and at least a Grammy Nomination.

What are your long term career goals within the next 2-5 years?

My goal within the next 2-5 years is to be one of the most sought after Producer’s in the industry with Grammy Nominations and Wins on my resume.

If you had one song out of the catalogue you have created to show a person what song would it be and why?

I created a track called “The Pinnacle”.  I believe this track will get anyone hype and will get placed soon. It is a straight banger that any artist in the industry would SLAY! It has grit and deep chords, with bounce. The track has a vibe of New York, the South, and West Coast all in one.

To the person who had never heard of you what is it about your music and story that you would tell them to entice them to be a supporter?

I would tell the person that my vibe is a Hip-Hop, R&B, and Soul mash up! I will let them know that my sound brings a fresh feel to the industry, a feel of when you first heard the uniqueness of Pharrell, Kanye, and/or Timberland and you just needed to hear more of their style! I will give people that feeling too!!!

If your music could be described in five words what would those five words be?

Unique, Soulful, Urban, Newness, and Grooves.

What do you bring to the game that is unique and different?

I have a unique ability to blend Hip-Hop, R&B, and Soul. I’m not afraid to create tracks with unique sounds and combine them together to make something that has not been emulated.

To the aspiring artist who is considering a career as a musician what lessons or advice would you give them to inspire them or to uplift them in the journey?

I will tell them to stay true to the craft and work hard.  Be confident in their abilities and don’t be afraid to explore artistry. I will tell them that patience is a talent that they must learn and if they stay ready they don’t have to get ready.

What are your social media profiles and where can people purchase/download your music?

What are your final words you would like to say to people that you have left out?

I just want to say that if it weren’t for my wife encouraging me to do something with music and keep pushing, I would not be in this position today! 1 Love baby!
