What is your background? tell us where you grew up and some information about your upbringing/experiences as a youth:

My Name Is Kris Stylez And I’m From Houston, Texas The Son Of A Drummer From Louisiana. I Actually Comes From A Family Of Artist. My Older Brother Ra Out Of Las Vegas. My Younger Brother Silky Baines aka Nick Blayze (of The Mob Boyz). My Cousins Out Of Louisiana Lano Cordale, Slim Kutt, Dude Kutt And Jae Vans (Kutt Boyz). Jae Vans Is Featured On My Single “Ready 4 Me” Which Is Out Now. I’ve Been A Ham Since I Was A Baby. I’ve Always Found A Way To Entertain Others. In Junior High I Had A Couple Of Friends Who Just Moved From New York And Really Introduced Me To Hip Hop. I Remember Them Playing Me This Song By The Lost Boyz Featuring A+, Redman & Canibus Called “Beast From The East” From Then On I Knew A Wanted To Rap. Met A Artist By The Name Of Miss Money Who Taught Me About Bars And Song Structure And It Was On From There. Granted I Did Alot Of Stop And Go Due To Life In General But I’ve Always Destined To Put Out An Album. As The Years Went And The Technology Grew Making It Easier And Easier To Release Music All Of My Musical Achievements Are Coming Put On My Album “The Last Gentleman” .

At what moment did you know that music was part of your life and what feelings did you have towards making an active impact with your music?

Again Hearing “Beast From The East” It Was The First Song That I Ever Paid Attention To The Lyrics. I Then Realized How Important What You Said In Your Songs Mattered To An Artist Legitimacy. I Started Off Writing Hardcore Battle Raps But Eventually Realized I Wasn’t Being True To Myself. I Grew Up In The Suburbs And Didn’t Live That Street Life Not Even When I Got Out Of High School And Actually Lived In “The Hood” Did I Ever Fall Victim To “The Trap”.

What artists inspired/influences you and if you could collaborate with any artist (alive or passed) who would it be and why?

I’m Inspired By Lyricist Period Creativity In What You Say On Record Is What Gets Me. Also How You Say And Deliver It. That’s Why I Now Gravitate To Artist Like Drake, Travis Scott,
Bryson Tiller, Tory Lanez, Ty Dolla Sign, Kirko Bangz, August Alsina, T-Pain. Artist Tgat Don’t Have To Rap All The Time Or Sing All The Time. They Can Be Very Versital And Therefore Won’t Bore They’re Audience.

What do you think about the current state of hip hop/mainstream music?

Real Hip Hop Isn’t Mainstream To Me. To Me In Order To Be Mainstream A Hip Hop Artist Would Have To Water Down Their Content Which ISN’T True Hip Hop. Mainstream To Me Means Your Music Can Be Played Anywhere It’s Crossover Appeal Is Massive. I Aim To Be Mainstream It’s Just Easier For Me Especially Woth How I Grew Up.

Currently, what projects do you have in the works that you are most excited about?

Right Now My Singles “Put Ya Blockz Up (Remix)” featuring Snow Tha Product, Rob G, TroubleSum & Oran Jones II Is Out Now. My Singles “I’m Better” & “Ready 4 Me” featuring My Cousin Jae Vans Are Out, & Both Songs Are Also On My Project “The Last Gentleman EP” Which Is Out Now. Which Will Lead To The Release Of My Album “The Last Gentleman” Which Is Basically My Best Work From The Last 15 Years All On One Project. You Will Get My Early Mob Boy Tracks Like “Dig U” & “Fast Lane” Featuring Oran Juice II. Current Music Like “I’m Better” & “Priceless”. To Future Songs Like “Ready 4 Me” & A Glimpse At My Future As A Producer With My Remix Of Little Mix’s “Salute” Which Is On Itunes Now & “Lonely” Sampling Drake’s “I Get Lonely Too”.

What are your short term career goals within the next 6-10 months?

Honestly Just Releasing The Album Is My Goal. I’m Not Suppose To Be Able To Do That At The Age Of 39… YES i said 39. I Should’ve Been Given Up On Doing Anything Musically Especially Releasing A Whole Album. But I WILL do it. I Honestly Don’t Care If It Just Sits On Itunes & Spotify Just The Fact That It Will Be On There Will Be A WIN To Me.

What are your long term career goals within the next 2-5 years?

To Get Past The First 6-10 Months

If you had one song out of the catalogue you have created to show a person what song would it be and why?

“Ready 4 Me” Featuring Jae Vans. This Is What Kris Stylez Brings To The Game. To Me It’s A Certified Crossover Hit You Could Even Call It Pop. I Wrote And Produced The Record And I’m Beyond Proud Of My Cousin Jae Vans Who Wrote And Performed The Hook So I Get The Bonus Of Showcasing My Very Talented Family On The Record Because If I Don’t Make It I know My Cousins The Kutt Boyz Will Represent The Family And Hip Hop Well.

To the person who had never heard of you what is it about your music and story that you would tell them to entice them to be a supporter? I’m So Commercial The Hood Hates Me. I Know Who I Appeal To And I Know Who I Won’t Appeal To And I’m OK with That. You Will Never Find Me Doing A Trap Song Or Anything Considered Gangsta .

If your music could be described in five words what would those five words be?

I Only Need 3…. Commercial As Fuck !!

What do you bring to the game that is unique and different?

I Might Be The OLDEST Rookie Of The Year Age Be Damned I’m Still Gon Jam.

To the aspiring artist who is considering a career as a musician what lessons or advice would you give them to inspire them or to uplift them in the journey?

Be Your Own Biggest Fan. Be Your Own Biggest Supporter And More Importantly…. Be Your Own Worst Critic !! It’s Easier With A Team But When You’re Down For Someone That’s Down For Themselves Don’t Expect The Same Love Back.
