2021 has been an incredible year for Kane Comfort. He has recently gained the attention of top executives at Universal Music Group. The encounter started with an invitation to Universal Music Groups recently acquired East Iris Studio complex in the Berry Hill neighborhood of Nashville. A key highlight of the private tour for Kane and his team was the detailed demonstration of the new Dolby Atmos immersive sound technology where sounds are interpreted as three dimensional objects.
“The listening experience was so intense that tears welled up in my eyes and I was overcome with emotion. The demo song was Rocket Man by Elton John, which has special meaning to me.” A sign from the universe.
While walking across the street to work in one of the studios Kane and his team were startled to see his name in white spray paint on the pavement with arrows pointing to the complex. When Kane asked about his name painted on the street he was told a utility crew made the markings several months earlier. Coincidence or a sign from the universe?
Subsequently, UMG invited Kane to their Santa Monica studios to shoot a live performance video of his newly released single Lotus in Dolby Atmos. The UMG team on this project was directed by Samuel Lindley aka The Legendary Traxter, a Grammy nominated producer of multiple hit songs and Kane had the opportunity to feature in the first Live Immersive Audio Capture done at the new Studio. Only a select group of UMG’s star studded roster of artists have worked in this new landmark studio including: Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, and Eminem. Kane was certainly in good company.
